That's a lot cheaper than I pay for dial-up, but mine does include
100megs of server space and 10gigs/month of bandwidth. Broadband here
would be $46/mo. And that includes no server space or server support at
all so I'd have to also keep my current account or take out another for
that. Also, the broadband here is from the same phone company that
barely maintains the lines to run regular modems.
Here in Georgia half the people are illiterate, so don't have computers
at home at all. I see these folks frequently in stores, hand the cashier
a blank check for them to fill out as they cannot even write a check.
Of the other half that are literate at some level, the majority cannot
afford, or won't afford a computer. When they do get a computer it's the
cheapest they can find.
So, something like near half the homes having broadband is a very long
way off here, unlike England. It's a very long way off for half the
homes to even have a home computer.
