I don't know if this means anything or not, since it's just one (I
think) insect, but for the first time this year (in 7-8 years) there
is at least one trilling cricket besides the few chirping crickets in
my yard in Hayward. It might be the green one I managed to get a
picture of. The other ones are brown. I'm on the edge of the city
limit, but I'm still surrounded by concrete and houses.
My inexpert opinion is that they moved around more because of the
recent high heat.
