I have a lot to learn about acoustics but as best as I can tell, the slow, amplitude phasing is a function of mic spread timing differences shaped by local acoustics. I use EQ to attenuate the pronounced Hz's which lessens the amplitude changes while lending a dynamic than can improve the sense of depth in the image. Not too effective to add delay. No 6 in Brian's mic test had a bit of this effect with the jet, but with close spacing. If you think about it, the studio triangle rule still applies because distance between the mics is quite small for sounds travelling from these distances. Rob D.
