Be sure the SM4 will fit the mic you are considering. Also note that
many rode mics come with a similar suspension specific to them.
Sounds like it has enough adapters to mount on the standard 1/4x20 or
3/8x16 threads on a photo tripod, so should mount on your's fine.
It's possible to duplicate this design by cutting away a piece of PVC
pipe and putting a attachment point or handle on it.

The ones that came with mine are ok studio mounts, but note that shock
mount does not provide for wind protection or any way to attach it. A
foam cover by itself on a mic is not wind protection, btw. More like a
pop filter if anything. So you'd still be into diy for wind protection.
With a mic on a tripod you don't need a lot of shock mounting. If you
were hand holding you'd need more.
