I'm feeling a little embarassed about my barage of questions but you
people just keep answering them!

I'm hoping I've lucked across a really good money saver here:

The rode shock mount (sm4) is described as having:
A three way mounting system with 1/4=94 x 20 and 3/8=94 x 16 internal
threads, a 5/8=94 x 27 and a 3/8=94 to 5/8=94 thread adaptor for Tripod, Bo=
om
Pole and mic stand mounting.

With the 1/4" would it be possible to mount such a beast on top of a
camera tripod with the larger thread? I already have a rugged Manfrotto
tripod which would be idea for setting up an ourdoor ambience rig. If I
can use that then I'll only need an ultra-cheap boom mic stand for
indoor use.

I would also any views about the quality of these rode shock mounts.
They are very cheap so if they are okay I would prefer them to a diy.
