The MZ-RH10 is certainly still under warranty.
Sony will replace your recorder with a
refurbished unit at no charge.

Regarding the 3.5mm jack, it's definitely a weak
link.  One way to delay the arrival of problems
is to plug a short lead into the recorder. Leave
the lead plugged in at all times.  (Some people
tape the lead to the back of the minidisc machine
to further reduce strain on the connector.)
Plug and unplug the mic to the lead, not the
recorder itself.
