I'll second the suggestion that you take a recordist along with you=20
that has experience and the equipment rather than you do it=20
yourself , unless you (or the group) has a very experienced member.
Because the highlands are very hot and humid you will probably want=20
to use the mkh range of mics as they are pretty immune to moisture=20
etc. My advice would be to go for a hard disk recorder as well,=20
722/744t  spring to mind. (rent if you can't afford to buy, I can=20
recommend several suppliers in Aus or NZ)
On another note, one of my best friends here in Auckland, New Zealand=20
is from the highlands in
PNG. She's been out here for about 5 years, speaks pidgen and still=20
has a house there, If you need contacts drop me a line off group.
ok I'll say it... I'm not up to much over the next few months and=20
have the equipment.
