Hi Mark, I also use a homemade mount and handle =96 a design pieced from ideas from several list members. I did not make my own dish, since a Telinga dish was easily affordable. To help reduce handling noise, I use a four-foot extension on my handle: It rests on the ground like a monopod, taking most of the weight off your hand. It works great once you've picked your angle and keep it, but even slight changes in angle are usually audible.
