Hi all,

As a birdwatcher and birdphotographer I spent many hours in the field.
Birdcall and songs have always be very important to locate and identify
birds. In recent years sound & soundrecording are gaining more and more
importance in the identification and documentation of (rare) birds.

So since quite a while I am looking for a sound-recording device that will
meet my demands:
- light weighted and small (since I already have quite a lot of other
equipment to carry)
- long record time and battery life (especially needed for migration survey:
the device should be able to record for many hours on a migration post in
order to get that one rare birdcall that one sometimes get)
- not to fragile ( I want to carry it into the field)
- bird are not always close, so it should be able to record
sounds from a certain distance (but I guess that depends for a major part on
the type of external microphone)
- the recordings should be easily digitally stored on a computer and put on
a website f.e. to share with others.
- last but not least, all of this should be within a reasonable budget.

Any experience from other people are most welcome (you can also contact me
private for this).

thank you in advance,
greetings,
Verbanck Koen
Belgium
