Fantasy: It would be very very cool if they at least had hinged the
mics so you could do XY or ORTF, and even cooler if you could pull them
off andhave XLRs right there under them. If that were the case I would
consider scraping the buckss for this. Miniplug mic jack is
unacceptable in such an otherwise premium deck. This would not be hard
to design in at all, and aai'd throw out the analog meters in exchange
- not that analog meters are bad, I miss them a lot of times, but why
on a small deck?

Pro Audio division? I can't even find the D1 on their messy website.
And why no digital in? It would cost them about 50 cents to add.

And did anyone notice the demonstrator couldn't think of a single
example of what you might record in the field except trains? Sheesh.
