Yes, very interesting samples. Which of the Oade mods are we listening to, the basic or the advanced? I think the most significant problems with the 660 are that the preamps are a bit noisy, which tells me to use high output mics, but at the same time, the preamps also don't have a lot of headroom which means the high output mics get clipped. To my ears the clipping sounds much worse than the hiss. There is a sweet spot combination of mic sensitivity and source loudness where the noise is low and the input isn't clipped. **All preamps will have this sort of sweet spot.** The 660's seems pretty narrow, compared to my Sharp minidisc, for example. If the Oade mod makes this sweet spot wider, it's a good thing. ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ |
