It is 8lbs in weight, I suppose you could make one yourself but by the time
you go out and get the hot glue gun, battery caddy, order the plug from
Sound devices you may think $275 is cheap!
I have 2 internal Sony batteries I carry and this exterior battery caddy
fits like a finger in a clove in the front pouch of the excellently made
Portabrace bag, recording time with this set-up including all batteries is
about 4 days in the field.....
What more could a bloke want? (don=92t answer that :)

Hi Martyn, that one looks interesting. $275 is a lot of money for a=20
hunk of plastic and a bit of wire, but I've learned that all this=20
stuff is expensive.

On his site, he lists 4 pounds including cells. Do you think it's=20
really 8? But I like this idea since you can always find D-cells, a=20
good backup to have with you.

Ditto on the Portabrace. We've even sent them back for custom work,=20
change a flap or make a new cable port, and they're very accommodating.
