Congrats Tim on your participation in Electronic Musician's article reviewing Field Recorders! A thorough run down on the recorder's features with some very useful insights. Tim reviews the Edirol R-1. Do you find it puzzling that Nick uses an Earthworks QT1A mic with 22dB(A) self noise to test the pre/noise performance of the recorders (pg 72)? Its clear from the "field recording" hook that taking recorders out of the studio is something more and more people are thinking about and that reflects well. A little further and the field will have grass!
