Hi,
SO I'm looking at building a frankenbasket (tm) to house some new side
addressing mics I got, and having been a devout binaural-style recordist
am blissfully unfamiliar with the various pros and cons of various
options.
My question today -- no doubt the first of several -- is for anyone who's
used the Sennheiser and Rycote rigid baskets -- is there any real
advantage to either, in convenience, weight, design, etc.? I'm looking at
used versions of both for a somewhat unorthodoxed idea and am curious if
either is preferable. I suspect the cost would be about the same, and in
this case I'm happy to pay for professional design instead of going the
DIY route. More on my frankenbasket (tm) later. :)
Walt Knapp alludes on his M/S page to the Sennheiser being more
rugged/tough, but I'm curious if anyone else has comments either way -- my
main considerations are going to be weight, reliability, etc.
Oh, and I anticipate that the mounts/blimps will almost always be in a
*vertical* orientation (side-addressing mics) so any comments on whether
there will be issues with the suspensions holding the mics in (!) I'm most
curious as well!
as ever,
aaron
