Edirol UA-1X

While using this device for file transfer I can not over drive the 
recording process in Audition.  My minidisk has a shared jack for 
headphone and line out.  If I make a transfer using the sound card I 
can turn up the minidisk volume and over driver the recording.  If I 
use the Edirol UA-1X , I can not over drive the recording, it looks to 
have less amplitude than the playback on the minidisk.

Do you think it is the Edirol product that is limiting the amplitude?  
Would you think that to be normal?
