That's exactly why I elected to get a bunch of NT-4's for the sound
students because I thought they wouldn't want to mess with bigger
rigs. About half way through the class I demo a stereo "M-S" rig that
uses a Rode NT1A (mid) /CAD 179 (side)-> MP2 and about half of the
students don't use the NT-4's again because they won't tolerate the
noise after hearing the M-S rig. I have the M-S mics built into a
backpack so its easy to transport and there's a single for raising
the mics 5'. The M-S rigs cost us about $1400 each with the NH-900..

When its really wet, I feel safer with an extra pair of dry mics. I
can afford an extra Rode NT1A/CAD179 combo. Rob D
