Sorry, I forgot to recap that the 744T-- though a 4 track recorder--
only has two mic inputs. Another mic pre is necessary for 4 mics,
total.  The quality difference  between the MP-2 and the 744's
built-in two channel mic pre is more dramatic than I guessed it would
be. I'd consider having 4 channels of 744T quality if SD ever comes
out with a stand-alone 2 channel mic pre based on the new technology.
