Swiss audio equipment manufacturer Sonosax is planning to enter the digital field recorder market next year. The MiniR82 will be available in 2, 6 and 8 channel versions. The 2 channel recorder measures 120 x 80 x 28 mm and weighs about 450 g, including batteries. That's not much larger than an iPod! The A/D can be set to rates up to 24/192. The box uses hard disc or Compactflash as the recording medium. Prices are expected to be similar to Zaxcom DEVA, in other words, astronomical. The free fall of the US dollar versus the European currencies is not helping, either.
