Wow...
I never quite took that kind of chance on any of my Costa Rica trips...
However, I have spent a fair amount of time waiting around to get
approval of supervisors in the carryon luggage check as a result of
bringing shotgun mics and certain kinds of battery packs. Many of my
accessories still have to go in my luggage though, due to space limitations.
The occasional physics discussion with such personnel on the
potential effects of X-ray on DAT tapes, computer disks, or film is
always fun too.
I just try go early enough that I can have time to work it out if possible.
By the way, where about did you record in Costa Rica?
