  The 24" parabola has a 1.5" hole. You could reduce the size of the
hole to 1.3", the diameter of 1" pipe threads by using a flexible
grommet available from a supplier such as Digikey. A more economical
grommet that I have used is a piece of 3/8" OD  X 1/4" ID vinyl
tubing split lengthwise. It works and replaces the rubber washers
shown in my diagram.
