Cable intermittent noise is one reason some people include inline capacitors to block the PlugIn Power DC voltage. When you get an intermittent connection with DC present, the results clicks and crackles are far louder than when DC is not present. On the other hand, you can look at the crackle as early warning that either your plug or the input jack is fatigued and needs replacing.
