Thank you Lang and Mike.
Your observations were needed as I am weak in math and weaker in
music.
In playing with things like this I am better off with the KISS
approach than the math approach (Keep It Simple Stupid, as well as
you don't learn how to kiss in a book).
I think I did establish that the time of arrival stereo information
is contained in wide spaced omnis for bass where it does not exsist
in binaural hearing.
The next step is to determine if people can do the time of arrival
direction determination using the bass pitches alone by listening to
wide spaced mics.
Then the ultimate test is to determine if the entire stereo image
would be made much more full if the bass portion of a recording is
done with wide spaced omni's while the rest done with a conventional
stereo micing. This is what Rob originally proposed.
I don't think I will be quick in making a final determination but
have the recordings to work on it.
