Yes, when i saw the photos, i though in House Sparrow juveniles.

Martin - My vote is female or juvenile House Sparrows.

I would choose juvenile over female as the yellowish under the bill looks
juvenilish to me but can't find it in any field guide. Sibley has
illustrations that are very close to your pictures.
