I agree, a Sharp minidisc. The Sharp MD-DR7 model (also called
MD-DR480 in some markets) has a very useful 5 second record-pause
buffer that keeps you from missing the start of your subject's
vocalization.=20
Lowest price I've seen for the DR-7 is $239 at www.audiocubes.com=20
This model is discontinued, so buy it while stock is still available.

sorry ... I meant to ask about the Sharp IM-MT880
it seems like a more robust version of the same device, any thoughts?
thanks

The JB3, as seen from a USB host is a special purpose
audio device, and thus will only work with the accompanying
software on PCs. Mac users are out of luck because the iPod
is too jealous to allow Nomad software to run on a Mac.
If a device were to present as a standard USB mass storage device,
it would be a simple matter to copy files back and forth.
If a device were to present as a standard USB audio device,
then it would be a simple matter to playback and record.
From any computer/OS that does USB.
Which brings up the question of the Fostex FR2, whose spec
sheet only says "USB" to computer only and keyboard only,
but doesn't say what spec version (USB 1.1 or USB 2.0),
what speed (full or high), and what device class (mass storage,
audio, proprietary) it supports on the computer interface.
Anyone know?
