Well, it depends on what your goals are. If you want to provide beautiful 
ambient recordings for a complete nature feeling, then you are probably 
correct. 
If you are trying to provide the listener with examples of bird vocalizations 
for study and reference, I feel you need to present a project that one can 
listen to without constantly turning the volume up and down.  Anyhow, that is 
my 
limited view on things!
