As usual, Oryoki comes up with the new gear and links to sites. If anybody
wants to know how to acquire gear or just what's happening out there,
contact Oryoki, great work!

Here's a link for updated information about the new digital field
recorder from Fostex:

http://www.fostex.com/index.php?file=3Dproducts/dat_dvd/fr2

The FR-2 digitizes at rates up to 192,000 samples per second with 24
bit accuracy. At that top rate, an hour of two channel recording
will consume 4GB of disc space!

The new model is about the same width and length as the HHB
Portadisc, but (at four inches) it's twice as thick. And weight is
about 8 ounces more than the Portadisc, unfortunately.

Fostex expects delivery to start in February, price $1450. Be sure
to budget a lot more for Compactflash or hard disc recording media.
