Call for Submission: One-Minute Vacations project

Subject: Call for Submission: One-Minute Vacations project
From: Aaron Ximm <>

Calling all you field recordists,

Aaron Ximm here of quietamerican.org. I haven't reiterated this call for
participation for a while so here goes. Please forward to potential
participants.

I'm perpetually looking for one-minute recordings for the One Minute
Vacation page on my website.

It's the most popular part of my website. I've been interviewed about
it numerous times this year; it offers a modest way to get recognition
for your recording efforts, and share your work with a new audience.

I started the project sharing many of my own recordings, but I'm
definitely happier now that it's self-sustaining on submissions from other
people. It gives me (and all the visitors) an ear-glimpse into the wider
world: much wider than I will ever visit myself.

To participate, please send me a favorite one-minute (exactly) recording
with a description of the circumstances (and/or significance) of the
recording. Best are 192 kbps MP3s emailed direct to this address.

I'm looking for unedited (normalized and slightly cleaned up is OK;
editing is not!) recordings that capture a particular moment of interest.

I put up a new one every Monday on my website here:

  http://www.quietamerican.org/vacation.html

Btw I also appreciate a brief summary of the gear used to make the
recording.

Disclaimer:

I should mention that I intend to collect each year's contributions onto a
CD. You retain all rights to your recording, but I do need permission to
do this. Please include your mailing address for a copy.

Copies of the compilation are sold from my website, with ALL proceeds
(less materials cost) going to charity.

Last year's disc, volume 1, has raised a modest but real $250 or so to
date, which will go to Heifer International; the next $250 will go to
Doctors Without Borders.

Thanks!

 aaron

PS If you submitted a walking-recording to DRIFTING, you might be relieved
to hear that despite now being six months late and counting, the project
is still alive, and I am actually making progress towards a release this
spring! Thanks for your patience!
