I listen to CDs on my home system and Cd players in the car. I do not
travel with a puter - hey that is my one time to get away from the blasted
things. I think currently the CD format would be much better accepted by
the public in general. I would prefer it on CD. Heck I still have people
requesting tapes because they do not use a CD!

I'll first declare my interest. I am presently working with four co-authors
on a DVD-ROM of the Birds of Brazil, in Sjoerd's series.
I personally find the CD/DVD-ROM format more convenient than audio CDs. My
reason is that I work on my computer constantly and find it quicker to
retrieve a file using Cool Edit than to put an audio CD in the computer,
wait till it starts up and then listen to a track. What's more, with the
recording as a file on the computer, I'm looking at the sonogram as I
listen. As a result of my preference for the computer the bird CDs that I
use most have all been 'ripped' to my computer's hard disc.
I never listen to audio CDs of bird song on my home audio system or in the
car but I'm sure there are many people who do and they would obviously
prefer audio CDs to a CD/DVD-ROM. I have heard that there are birders who
use CD players in the field for playback but they are probably few and I
doubt whether they would carry a full set of your CDs in the field; they
would probably burn a CD with a selection of cuts which they could get from
audio CDs or from a CD/DVD-ROM.
I suspect many of the people on this list would agree with me as, by nature
of their membership, they are computer orientated people, not computer shy.
But are they representative of the people who buy your CDs?
Although I have never been to Ecuador, I have one of your sets of CDs and
congratulate you on a great piece of work.
