I spoke with a couple Fostex people at the AES show about this new
recorder. I was told it would be available in Feb 2004 with a
projected price of $1495 (without the timecode option). I liked the
look of this device, other than some small concern over its physical
size--a little bulky. Then again, I worry that the Sound Devices disk
recorders might be too small so I guess I'm impossible to please. But
for under $1500, this product has my attention.
For those interested in super-tiny recording systems, Core Sounds was
showing their (now shipping) PDA-based digital audio recorder. See
their site, http://www.core-sound.com for lengthy details.
