Doug - thanks for the reply! I checked those setting on Cool Edit.
The options for "Waveform Playback" and "Waveform Record" are:
"USB Audio", "SB Live!", and "Wave Mapper". If I set the
Playback to "SB Live!", sure enough, I can once again hear
sound through the speakers. Thanks, Doug.=20

What puzzles me now is how to get Cool Edit to "hear" and record
what I can hear through the speakers playing off the PC3 unit.
I have analog connections, the PC3 analog output is connected
into the "Line In" on the SB card. Used to be, I would connect
my Sharp portable MD to the SB Live in a similar way (headphone
out to Line In) and just hit record on Cool Edit. But with
the PC3 using the same connection, Coole Edit doesn't record
anything. No activity on the record level meter. I'm sure it
is once again a configuration issue, and I will thank you in
advance (Doug or anyone else) for advice!

One last question - why is the PC3 installed as a "USB Sound
Device" anyway? Seems to me that the "sound" of this "device"
is carried via an analog (in my case) connection between
the PC3 and the sound card. Isn't the USB just for PC control
via M-Crew?
