I agree with Klas. There is something special about a "snapshot in
time". You get what you get!

I don't agree that one could use any recording made under 2003. That is
a very different thing.
The challenge is to have a day, a time, a topic - and then make the best
of it, using all your skills and creativity!
Last Sept 1, I had three options: fox puppets playing around, a common
tit making some "chirp" and the heavy rain outside my window with a fly
passing by.
I took the rain and fly recording, as it was the most typical for the
day. Rain. It was a 10 sec picture of Sweden Sept 1.
On top of that I think it has a special, poetical value that all
recordings are made at the same time, all over the globe! That was your
original idea and I definitelly think we should stick to it.
Presenting a number of recordings made under 2003 becomes very similar
to any ordinary sound recording competition and will trigger very
different emotions than the original project, both within ourselves and
the listener.
Come on, people - If I want to hear animal sounds I just switch on
Animal Channel! There is an inflation in animal sounds.
But the poetical value of Vicky's original idea doesn't exist anywhere
else than on this list. It's unique.
