Nothing to do with windows, but macs, both OS 9 and OS X recognize the 
Portadisc as a USB audio device.

Only problem is that with some versions of the OS both input and output 
get routed to the Portadisc at the same time. This was a problem with 
Intel's spec for USB. This can make monitoring with headphones a 
problem, and is why I don't use the USB routinely but use the optical 
digital output into the Roland UA-30. The Roland also has the USB route 
both input and output to it at the same time, but also has a headphone 
monitoring section.
