I lied about the recording in the Rockies of the owl with the train in the background. It was NOT with the Roche but with the little Sony setup. Pretty small parabola and mic BUT it was hanging around the department and so I could use it for free. It was only a 16 inch job with an Electret EMC 170 mic. I did all my early owl recording with that. Even that setup amplified the low rumble of the train a lot. I think something is funny with your system if you are not getting the low sounds with your Telinga. Somehow things are being filtered or your headphones or speaker are not giving you the low frequencies.
