Roland also offers a very simple USB audio interface that sells at 
about $120:

Its very simple. There are no recording or playback level controls, 
but it works fine if you do not require these things.

Another, more compact product would be the Audiotrak OPTOPlay:
http://www.audiotrak.net/optoplay.htm

It supports playback only and costs about $100. It offers 24/96 
playback and has also an optical output. However, the analog output 
is a 3.5mmm headphone connector (I had no problems to use that 
output as a line out).
