Yes they are very similar. I noticed there was considerable variation in 
levels between the three. Was the gain knob setting about the same or 
different for each?

I noticed what sounded like frogs in the Portadisc and Tascom 
recordings, did not seem to be calling in the PMD recording. The 
variations in the calling levels of the various birds are a fairly large 
part of the differences.

It really boils down that most modern recorders do a good job and we are 
looking at fairly minor variations between. The 690 seems very close to 
some I've heard from the 650.

If you wish to do more samples, it would be nice to hear recordings done 
in a real quiet site where the self noise might be more evident. Though 
it's likely the Telinga will be the main source.
