By all reports the iMic is good equipment and will give you a quality
line out. I don't have it, but all the other Griffin stuff I have here
just works, don't ever have to think about it. Over the years I've used
lots of their stuff.
You can probably come up with other USB solutions, but probably more
money. Like, for instance the Roland I use, which is a lot more money.
