Pro Tools' multi-tool that can position the cursor, trim, or make a
fade without hitting any keys. Some people hate it, I use it all the
time.

Very desirable! See also Melodyne (for single voices only), Kyma's
spectrum editor (http://www.symbolicsound.com/brochure). There was a
new program doing this being demonstrated at the AES. It only ran on
one daw system, and I'm sorry I've forgotten the details. It had a
single name like "Rejuvenator" but that wasn't it. It was impressive
in that you could make either vertical or horizontal selection boxes
in the spectrogram (a click or a harmonic, for example), and it would
extract the contained feature without leaving a hole.

Distance? Neat trick.

Good.
