The big problem is that Apple is not Apple anymore. Steve Jobs brought
all his Unix cronies from the failed NEXT company in and they kicked out
or harrassed out everybody else. It's a unix camp there now.
Anyway, for the expressed reason that Mac folks were not converting to
OS X fast enough, all new macs as of January will boot only OS X. If we
won't move voluntarily, they will force us. Amazingly they actually said
that. Some people may like Steve Jobs and his ego, I don't.
I'm having to speed up the pace of organizing for the change. Won't have
to do it in January, but I'm expecting that will be the end of any
software updates for OS 9. Several companies have already announced they
will be dropping any OS 9 compatability. I'm going to loose a lot of
functionality in my software set.

It is my understanding it's a one way trip. And counts how many times
you copy something too. It's all a system designed to protect copyright,
not convenience. The next step towards pay per play music. Of course
some hacker may figure it out. Note that most of them are primarily
interested in continuing to pirate music, not field recording.
ATRAC3 is not standard ATRAC, lower quality sound.
Yes, they have the converter for that in your computer for moving the
stuff to the MD.
