Here in Georgia they sell simple fishing poles designed to replace a
length of bamboo for fishing for panfish. They are sectional and
telescope to a smaller length. And they are usually the new graphite
material and quite light. I have a 14' boom made out of one of the 20'
ones. Remove the thin outer end, glue or stopper a mic mount on the end.
I use that one mostly for reaching out past the brush to get my
hydrophone in the water. Much like it's original use.

I don't know if the same thing is available where you are but worth checkin=
g.

Two other ideas would be one of the telescoping boathooks, and also here
there are telescoping poles made for retrieving fishing lures that would wo=
rk.

I you just need a sort one, broomhandles work.
