John Arvin failed to mention in 
his introduction the pioneering 
role he played in the development of 
eco-tourism in North and South America.  
For 30 years John acted as tour leader and 
world-class birding guide, and promoted 
eco-tourism as a viable economic activity
for remote rural communities.  Without 
the efforts of a handful of people like 
John, the rest of us would not now enjoy 
the opportunity to so easily travel to 
and study in the western hemisphere's 
remaining wild places.  Thanks, John!
