Finally I can reply... sorry for the long delay, Since my e-mail address 
changed I lost the ability to post messages!!

You asked Doug about the CVX mic, and maybe I can answer this. More info can be 
found on the River Forks Research web site www.riverforks.com which I am still 
adding stuff to. The current price for a single CVX microphone is Canadian 
$1300 or so.

The current microphones are all mono, although our 180 degree version works 
well in pairs, giving you stereo. In fact the biologists in Canada enjoy using 
one 360 and one 180 as a pair!!! You can find more info on how this works at

The CVX has a similar gain, only from all horizontal directions, as that of a 
24" parabolic dish. So when a bird chirps, the CVX picks it up.
