Sounds like the distortion is on the tape. Assuming it's allowed, as a
minimum if it were me, I'd be copying it to minidisc to keep it from
getting worse. You might check with them if they have a better copy
first. Changing to different tracks you made up from elsewhere would
probably violate the study protocol.
