Yahoo Mail does not have a single “whitelist” button, but you can reliably allowlist addresses and domains by (1) adding them to Contacts and (2) creating Filters that always send those messages to your Inbox.

 

Step 1: Add sender to Contacts

This helps Yahoo treat the sender as trusted and reduces the chance of future messages going to Spam.[

  • Open Yahoo Mail and sign in.
  • Open a message from the sender you want to allow.
  • Click or hover on the sender name/address at the top of the message.
  • Choose “Add to contacts” (or similar), fill in any details, then click Save.

 

Step 2: Create a filter for the address

Filters can act as a whitelist rule for individual email addresses.

  • In Yahoo Mail, click the gear icon (Settings) in the top-right.
  • Click “More Settings”.
  • Select “Filters”, then click “Add new filters”.
  • Give the filter a name (e.g. Trusted sender).
  • Under “Set rules”, choose “From” and enter the exact email address (for example,

I have used Yahoo and have been a member of COG for a number of years and cannot recall any previous problems. I am not familiar with the Yahoo mail interface but will look into it with a view to whitelisting canberrabirds.org.au 🤞.

We have many other subscribers with yahoo webmail addresses; no others have mentioned any problems lately.

 

I have not seen the yahoo mail interface, but presumably one of its settings is to whitelist/favourite specific email addresses and/or domains. You could add canberrabirds.org.au to it, if you have not already done so.

I have not been receiving many Canberrabirds emails recently and, on examining my “junk” box, I discovered your message below. Of the 53 messages that I found in the Junk box, 47 of them relate to Canberrabirds. 

 

Yahoo is my email provider. 

 

Is there any hope for me that this situation will improve?

Greetings. A couple of CanberraBirds subscribers have mentioned that delivery of list emails have been erratic lately, e.g. delayed delivery, and then a bunch arriving all at once.

 

Our mailing list operates under GNU Mailman via our hosting company Fluucs. I do not have access to Mailman other than the list management pages. As a result, I cannot do anything to identify if there is an ongoing problem.

 

It is possible that the Mailman managers are short staffed over the holiday period and therefore slow in rectifying any problems; purely speculation on my part.

 

Please let me know if you have any ongoing problems with the list; I can always check the status of your subscription, and can follow-up with the support staff at our hosting company.
