She was always friendly and helpful.  The first time I saw an Eastern Spinebill was at the ANBG and I was struck by its beauty.  Jean showed me its illustration in a field-guide. Ungratefully I complained the book was not doing justice to the actual bird.  Today as I went for my morning walk I saw an Eastern Spinebill.

Yes, sad news.

Jean was a great help with the frogmouths and LIttle Eagles. Always reliable and keen to learn.

Many of you will be aware that long-term COG member Jean Casburn has been battling cancer for some time.  Jean died peacefully last night (21 August).

Jean was a champion in the fight to have Bluetts Block saved from development, which led to her being the winner of the ACT Environment Award in 2022.

She was also a loved friend to many of us.
