Thank you for the message Sandra. That is a shock to me, and what a sad loss.  I only knew Jean from many conversations about birds, but there is now a large gap in the bird community from my viewpoint.  My sympathy to the many people with a close connection to this enthusiastic worker for local bird life.  The flyway through her neighbourhood for departing Yellow-faced Honeyeaters should be given Jean’s name.

Many of you will be aware that long-term COG member Jean Casburn has been battling cancer for some time.  Jean died peacefully last night (21 August).

Jean was a champion in the fight to have Bluetts Block saved from development, which led to her being the winner of the ACT Environment Award in 2022. 

She was also a loved friend to many of us.
