Jerrabomberra Wetlands Prescribed Burn

Good morning,

 

Dependent on suitable weather and fuel moisture conditions, ACT Parks and Conservation will look to commence the following ecological burn today, Wednesday the 27^th of October:

 

FB704 Jerra Wetlands

 

Location	Jerrabomberra Wetlands Nature Reserve: UBD Map 60, C3. Handy Reference 2 Dairy Rd Fyshwick;-35.315306 S, 149.161486 E
Reason for Burn	Ecological and cultural outcomes. The spring burns will create open grass area where turtles can access breeding grounds, and Lathams snipe can refuge. Increase sedge growth, other native grasses and reeds, decrease clumps of phalaris. Indigenous community and Murrumbung rangers can practice cultural burning techniques and share their knowledge.
Size	~2ha/year Total area is 8.69 ha.	Elevation	600m
Slope	0 – 10%	Aspect	S-SW, W
