Yes - all seems to be good once more. No trouble with this mornings post at Namadgi VC.

I think our eBird app problem might be fixed now. Mine fell over when trying to download the chosen location for the last 2 days but works as usual this morning.

Hi all

This problem appears to be occurring only with iPhone users, and it seems is not something that has come up before. At least one person has logged the problem with the eBird Help Centre. I suggest we all wait a bit and see what comes from that.  If I hear anything further from up the line in eBird I will put an update onto this Chatline.

I had the same problem on Monday as you did Tony, couldn’t get the location entered before it crashed so when I got home I entered it manually on my desktop but of course didn’t have the map info.

I have an iPhone 11 Pro and am running IOS 14.7.1. Will try again tomorrow to submit data.

Hi,

One suggestion is to put the problem on eBird Facebook, it helped us when we had a problem. eBird Australia | Facebook

Dear Chatliners.

I hope someone can help me with my Ebird app problem, please.

I have had Ebird running successfully on my iPhone 7 for several years without problems.

The Ebird version is listed as 2.6.4/(2.6.36).  I have been running the iPhone on iOS14.whatever until recently, when I updated to iOS15.0 and now iOS15.0.1.

Until Sunday everything was going fine with entering data into Ebird, then suddenly, from Monday 4 Oct, I have had problems.  When I start a checklist and then go to "choose a location" and tap on any of the locations, the program crashes. This occurs if I use Recent, Nearby or Map options. If I put in nothing and stay with Auto selected latitude/longitude, when I get to the end, the program insists on me choosing a location - and then crashes when I do.

Now this might be partially my fault, as when I went to iOS15 and restarted the iPhone various windows popped up asking for me to choose various setups which I did not understand.  I thought I took most of the defaults.  I'm sure Ebird was running on iOS15.0 but maybe the problems started with 15.0.1 - I'm not sure, but I think not.

This iPhone is supposed to have security on it (as far as I know!) .

If anyone else is having problems such as these please let me know - maybe I have to wait for iOS15.0.2.  On the other hand if everyone else's similar system is working okay then I have some other problem.  Any suggestions on how to overcome such a problem would be very welcomed.

If I enter my eBird account via the internet on a laptop computer it works fine, so the fault doesn't appear to be with the account - it seems to be the App itself on the iPhone.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Tony Willis
