Years ago whilst out one night doing spotlight searching for possums (maybe Leadbeater’s if I recall correctly). The group came across an odd checkerboard pattern on a branch. It took a while for us to work out what it was. It was seven Laughing Kookaburras perched sleeping on one straight branch, all in contact but each one facing the opposite way from the bird next to it. Thus the checkerboard pattern.

Do 7 Laughing Kookaburras in the one tree at the one time constitute a flock? I have never seen that many all together.

2 were below (1 obscured) but I did count 7 when they flew off…..and in my GBS area too.
