We have also had King Parrots in our street in Forde for the last 2 winters. I also started hearing Superbs a week or two back.

We are now regularly getting King Parrots in our garden in Amaroo. This was a rarity about 3 years ago.

I've seen up to 9 at the one time, but usually one or two pairs and the past couple of breeding seasons young birds have been brought in by adults.

 

While we have never had Superbs in our garden they are a common sight in the suburb and down the road at Yerrabi Pond.

In the dim  distant past (early 1980s) Yarralumla used to be the hotspot for King Parrots.  Mainly feeding on oak trees if my memory is correct.

BTW, we have seen rather more numbers of king parrots than in past years near where we live (Emu Ridge, near the Belconnen town centre), as well as in McCaughey St a few blocks north of Barry drive (before Masson St).  Have others noticed larger than usual numbers of king parrots in other parts of Canberra this year?
