Re large numbers of King parrots, yes, we have been seeing larger numbers of them than I would have expected from past years (suburbs of Griffith, Manuka, Kingston).

We were at the AIS this evening, just before sunset, near the swimming pool area entrance, where there is a grove of deciduous (elm??) trees with new flowers/seeds attracting various rosellas, king parrots, etc.  Among them were a few superb parrots, eating as heartily as the others – so in that case we did see kings and superbs together, albeit in small numbers.

BTW, we have seen rather more numbers of king parrots than in past years near where we live (Emu Ridge, near the Belconnen town centre), as well as in McCaughey St a few blocks north of Barry drive (before Masson St).  Have others noticed larger than usual numbers of king parrots in other parts of Canberra this year?
